“I am a third year pharmacy student and moved here from my hometown County Down in Northern Ireland. My student experience has been great, both in respect of the quality of facilities at the university and the lifestyle here in Sunderland.

“Sunderland was my first choice of out of six universities across the country, including Manchester, Cardiff and Bath. I had heard that Sunderland was a good place to study, particularly for a pharmacy degree, an area in which the university has a great reputation.

“The facilities are getting better and better and the quality of teaching is second to none. Having a pharmacy degree gained at the University of Sunderland will give me a great chance of getting a job after I graduate.

“The social aspect of student life is obviously important too. Nightlife in Sunderland is really good. It is also really central, so if you want to have a night out elsewhere in the region, it is easy to get there, with excellent road and rail links. The low cost of living means that your money goes further and I can enjoy a better social life and still have good accommodation and facilities.

“The lifestyle and sport facilities in Sunderland are great. I’m a member of the a fitness centre and part of the university’s rugby team, so there are plenty of clubs to keep me busy.

“I’ve been made to feel really welcome in the city. Sunderland is like home from home; the people are down to earth and friendly and make the experience here really good. I’d definitely recommend Sunderland to others.”
